The Nigerian Bar Association, Section on Business Law inaugurated the new Executive Council during its virtual Annual General meeting yesterday, 28th August 2020.

Ayuli Jemide, Lead Partner, Detail Commercial Solicitors and Chairman of the Committee in his acceptance speech thanked the outgoing council and all members who participated in the nomination of new council. He stated,

“My SBL journey has been a long engaging road with lots of fine and rewarding moments – today being one of them. As a pioneer member of the SBL I served under George Etomi as a Committee Chair, and thereafter served every other SBL Chair in various capacities – Mfon Usoro, Gbenga Oyebode, Asue Ighodalo, Olu Akpata, and Seni Adio SAN. I have been re-elected to SBL Council 3 times in various capacities – including Treasurer and Vice Chairman. I have also been a conference planning committee Chair.

All these experiences make me realize the amount of hard work that has been deployed by all preceding Chairmen and Councils to bring our dear SBL to its enviable state as an Association known for trail blazing and innovation. I have no doubts that our major immediate tasks would include strengthening the institutional and governance structure of the SBL and building systems for SBL to increase its menu and value proposition to paying members and constituents.”

Other members of the council are Dr. Adeoye Adefulu, Vice Chairman; Ozofu Ogiemudia, General Secretary, who recently chaired the Conference Planning Committee of the just concluded Section on Business Law Conference; and Isaiah Bozimo, Treasurer. The council was nominated and elected unopposed.

Chinyere Okorocha, outgoing treasurer of the Committee, congratulated the incoming council members, and applauded the outgoing council on the commendable feat of living the financial status of the section better in light of the present economic crisis.

Seni Adio, SAN, the outgoing Chairman of the Committee congratulated the new council and thanked the members of outgoing council and section for all the support he received during his term. He thanked the national Ex-Co and Paul Usoro, SAN, past NBA President, for his trust and support of section.

The NBA Section on Business Law is a specialist section of the Nigeria Bar Association set up to promote the professional development of commercial lawyers.
