On 7 August 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 (“CAMA 2020”) into law. The introduction of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 (“CAMA 2020”) (CAMA 2020) led to the repeal of the erstwhile Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990. This is widely regarded as a key step in the Federal Government’s drive to implement regulatory reforms that would promote transparency, ease of doing business and investor confidence.
However, many companies and investors still have questions regarding the fundamental changes introduced by CAMA 2020, the impact of the reforms on the activities of investors across all sectors of the economy, and have identified areas that require further legislative or regulatory attention to promote the ease of doing business.
To discuss these issues, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (“LCCI”) and ǼLEX are jointly organising a webinar with the theme: CAMA and the Business Community. The Webinar is scheduled to take place at 11.00 am on Friday, 4th September 2020.
The speakers at the Webinar are:
- Alhaji Garba Abubakar, Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission;
- Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business;
- Ms Tinuade Awe, Director Regulation, Nigerian Stock Exchange; and

The Webinar will be moderated by Mr. Lawrence Fubara Anga, a Partner at ǼLEX. Mr. Anga is also the Chairman, Commercial and Taxation Law Committee of the LCCI; and Member, Board of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre [LACIAC].
